After high school I enlisted in the Marine Corps and traveled the world, and then went to college in Michigan where I studied communications and fine art. After receiving a B.A. in Scientific and Technical Communications I spent the next six months thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. When I finished hiking, I moved to Arizona and went to massage therapy school. After a year’s worth of training I moved back to Minnesota and stayed for four years working within the bodywork field. I started to feel out of place and restless back in Minnesota so, on a whim in 2005, I drove out to Lake Tahoe. And, I’ve been living at Lake Tahoe ever since.
I’ve been producing art since 1997, having experimented with an assortment of 2-dimensional mediums such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, inks, colored pencils, graphite, and gouache. For the past few years I’ve been more focused on self-publishing illustrated books using primarily pen & ink (because it’s easier to digitally scan and reproduce).
My largest artistic endeavor, however, has been to create and continue to build the outdoor-related blog called Tahoe Trail Guide. This has been a passion project of mine since the end of 2016, and it brings together all of my interests and skills. I recommend checking out that website to see what I’ve been investing most of my time in for the past couple of years. And, you might learn a thing or two about going on outdoor adventures!
