Hey folks, this page is essentially just an introduction to me. To see my most up-to-date projects and adventures, click on one of the many links located here (i.e. Tahoe Trail Guide, YouTube channel…). You can also sign up to my monthly email newsletter, where I post work that I’ve produced during the previous month.
After honorably fulfilling my four-year commitment to the US Marine Corps (1992-96), I earned a degree in technical writing. It was during my college years that I discovered my passion for creating art. So, I’ve been an artist and writer (of some form or another) since 1997. I’ve experimented with an assortment of 2-dimensional mediums such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, inks, colored pencils, graphite, and gouache. But, I began to streamline my artistic endeavors a few years ago by focusing on pen illustration with or without watercolor washes. Honestly, though, more than anything in recent years I’ve embraced wildlife and nature photography.
The main reason I’ve essentially put down the brush and picked up the camera is due to my largest artistic endeavor, which is a backcountry and outdoor-related blog (since 2016). Tahoe Trail Guide has become my primary focus for artistic and technical expression. It’s funny because I’ve only actually had one job at which I put to use my technical writing degree. And that job lasted for less than two years (many years ago)! But, now that I consider myself a naturalist and want to share my passion for the outdoors, I’m combining all of my technical writing and artistic experience into the site’s creation.
So, I recommend checking out Tahoe Trail Guide to see what I’ve been investing most of my time in for the past few years. And, you might learn a thing or two about going on outdoor adventures!
